Team workspaces

Shared charts, themes, rules, keys, and billing for a team, and who can do what.

A Team workspace is a shared Studio. Its charts, API keys, usage, and subscription belong to the workspace, not to a person, so they stay when people come and go. Everyone also keeps a personal workspace for their own charts and plan; joining a Team workspace is free.

Team is one flat price per workspace with unlimited members. Its 50,000 renders a month and its saved-chart storage are shared by the whole workspace. See Plans and limits for the comparison.

Create a workspace

Choose Team on the pricing page, or Create a Team workspace in the Studio workspace switcher. Name the workspace and pick its URL name: its Studio lives at /studio/{name}. Checkout creates the workspace and you become its admin.

After checkout, the workspace offers to move every chart from your personal workspace into it, keeping their links. If you also pay for Creator or Pro, it offers to end that plan at the end of its period.

Members and roles

A workspace has two roles. Admins invite people from Members and can make any member an admin; a workspace always keeps at least one.

Invitations go out by email and work for 7 days; resending one starts the clock again. Only someone signed in with the invited address, verified, can accept.

Where a chart goes

Most actions never ask for a workspace. A chart’s id carries it, so opening, rendering, updating, or deleting a chart uses its own workspace’s plan, allowance, and rules. A workspace is chosen only to create a chart, to render one that isn’t saved, or to list charts:

  • Studio uses the workspace in the URL, and New chart creates the chart in the workspace you’re in. Signing in and Open Studio take you to your default workspace, which you set under Account → Settings. Your first Team workspace becomes the default.
  • The API and the Figma plugin use the key’s workspace. Create a key under Connect in the workspace it should act for; the plugin switches workspaces when you switch keys. See Authentication.
  • MCP asks which workspace a connection should use when you authorize it. See MCP.

Moving charts

Any member can move a chart from their personal workspace into a Team workspace, with Move to under the workspace label in the editor. Its image, embed, and editor links don’t change. The move checks the workspace’s chart rules, so a rule set to Block can refuse it, and cached images pick up the workspace’s plan.

Only admins can move a chart out. A chart that uses one of the workspace’s shared themes keeps its look: the theme is copied into the chart as its own customization.

What Team adds

  • Shared themes – the workspace’s own looks, built on Szum’s themes, offered first in the web editor, the Figma plugin, the API, and MCP. One can be the default for new charts.
  • Chart rules – checks every chart must pass, from a required title and source to allowed themes, each set to Off, Warn, or Block. They apply everywhere a chart is made: the editor, Figma, the API, and AI agents.
  • Allowed embed domains – the sites where the workspace’s interactive embeds may appear.
  • Authors and sources – Studio filters the workspace’s charts by who made them and where: the editor, the API, Figma, or MCP. The API takes the same filter; see Saved charts.

Leaving and removing members

A member can leave from Members, and admins can remove anyone. Their charts stay in the workspace, still credited to them, and their personal workspace is untouched. Keys they created keep working until an admin revokes them; their MCP connections to the workspace stop, and their default workspace goes back to Personal.

The last admin can’t leave. Make someone else an admin first, or delete the workspace. For the same reason, an account can’t be deleted while it is the only admin of a Team workspace.

When Team ends

Canceling keeps Team until the end of the paid period; a failed payment ends it at once. Then 30 days of grace start, and admins are emailed when they start, a week before they end, and when they end.

During the grace period the workspace is read-only. Published charts keep their themes and carry no Szum credit. Members can view and export charts; admins can move charts out or delete them. Existing keys keep working, but no new ones can be made. After the grace period, Free rules apply: theme customization leaves published charts, the “Made with Szum” credit returns, and chart rules and allowed embed domains stop. Members and charts stay. Buying Team again restores everything, during or after the grace period.

Delete a workspace

An admin deletes a workspace under Settings by typing its name. The Team plan ends at once, without a refund, and the workspace’s charts, their image and embed links, its keys, and its invitations are deleted. Move any charts you want to keep out first.
