- What counts as a render?
A render is one chart output Szum produces when a request reaches our servers. That includes images, fresh embed responses, and MCP previews. Cached views, local editor previews, Figma canvas renders, and client-side interactions don’t count.
- Do cached chart views count against my quota?
No. Every plan runs on a global CDN, so a chart read by thousands of people costs just the handful of renders behind the cache misses.
- Can I use Szum without an account?
Yes. Keyless gives you 100 renders a month per IP with no signup, and guest MCP previews are complimentary. Opening a guest preview’s static image uses its separate anonymous image allowance. A free account adds saved charts, interactive embeds, and 500 renders a month.
- Can I use Szum for client or commercial work?
Yes. Every plan permits commercial use. Creator is designed for professional publishing: it adds custom themes and Google Fonts, and removes Szum attribution.
- What happens when I hit my plan's limit?
Free and Creator renders pause at the monthly limit – upgrade to keep going. Pro can opt into overage at $1 per 5,000 renders, and we email you as you approach and cross usage milestones so there are no surprises.
- What happens to custom themes if I downgrade?
Your custom configuration stays saved. Existing links keep working with the built-in theme and Szum attribution, and upgrading restores the custom presentation. Publishing or exporting new custom-theme output still requires Creator or Pro.
- What's the difference between monthly and annual billing?
Same features either way. Creator is $9/month billed monthly, or $7/month billed annually. Pro is $29/month billed monthly, or $23/month billed annually.
